Over Fathers Day weekend we went to Colorado to visit our friends Kenis and Carrie Byam. This was a last minute trip to look at some heeling horses. Heath needs a new horse for work and also for rodeo. We loaded up Saturday morning and drove out there. We made a stop in North Platte to get a few things and eat. The kids did well with the 5 hour drive but they were ready to get out of the pickup when we got there.
All went well except Trace didn't like sleeping in the trailer living quarters which meant I didn't sleep well either. It was a super long weekend with no sleep. The little guy didn't even take a nap on Sunday until about 4 pm when we left. Sunday, Sydney played with Chase (Kenis and Carrie's son) all day.
Heath rode a couple horses and is interested in one of them but we will see what he decides. It's hard because Louie was exactly what Heath wanted because he made him that way. Now we are having to start all over again and this is a busy time for horse use. Not only for rodeos but checking pastures all summer.
Sydney reminded her dad that she had to ride her horse around right away Sunday morning. She did a great job all by herself. She learned to rein the horse finally. :) she is a natural.
Posing for a picture with Pepper who is only her horse. No one can ride him but her....not even Daddy.
The guys are lounging around just chatting it up while drinking their morning coffee.
Sydney was tired of walking around in little circles so she ventured off and rode ALL the way around the ranch. Pretty brave girl.
Doesn't she just look like a little peanut on him? Pepper is so good with kids! He is such a great animal to have around for our kids to enjoy.
